Bouquet Build Plan
My sister was on a quest for the perfect floral arrangements for her wedding day, but had no interest in paying the price she had been quoted by the local florist. She would do them herself and needed my help. Flower care wouldn’t be a problem. I had worked in a flower shop in high school, but what about design and assembly? We needed a simple yet effective method for planning and communication.
Drawing on my role as Lead Designer at ECRM, where I had recently collaborated with the Data team on visualizing trends through a Word Cloud generator, inspiration struck. Why not apply the same principles to our floral endeavor? Using the flower's image to signify type and size to convey scale, we crafted a series of diagrams that would serve as our blueprint.
These diagrams proved to be an invaluable tool throughout design, purchase and assembly of the arrangements.
The day of assembly arrived, and armed with our printed diagrams and 7 volunteers, we embarked on a flower-filled adventure. As the final bloom found its place, we stood back to admire our handiwork. Success.
She was happy. I was happy. Now time to get this girl married.
